Thanks for checking out my website i learned how to build knives from scratch over 10 years ago , studying under several professionals. traveling state to state to work with some of the most accomplished blacksmiths and bladesmiths this country has to offer. i i traveled to Santa Fe NM to study under frank turley and learn how to hand forge my own tools . and so i was hooked. i began making more and more complexe tongs and simple tools like chisels and center punches. knives i guess would be a natural progression. i studied in North carolina under Andrew Macdonald a master in iron. who introduced me to the discipline of fine detail in iron work. more comprehensive forging techniques, larger industrial forging, heavy duty tool making machining metalurgy . and from an amazing woman named April Franklin who taught me how to make the finest quality Damascus steel. the standard of quality taught to me to make master quality knives was tuaght to me, from a Master smith Jay Hendrickson , at a school dedicated to preserving the art of custom forged blades . jay introduced us to the metalurgical science behind the steels we use to make cutting tools, from the techniques that must be mastered, from hand forging to shape . grinding, heat treating. sharpening , learning what the dieal cutting geometry is and always producing this ideal. then i passed my journeyman smithing test !!! and only subsequent years of working and practice i finally got profficient at grinding working a forge, heat treating, , and eventually got good a finnishing the handles, which always seems to take FOREVER!! at least to do a good job.
these blades are made from O-1 toolsteel . with brass parts and buffalo horn handle fittings with brass guards and pommel sections. heat treated to be hardened to around a 59 HRC. dang durable and elegant styllings.
